Canoe for Cancer

Johnson Glass & Mirror in Uxbridge started a seven-kilometer river run 15 years ago as a fun outing with friends and family. When we realized how many of us had been touched by cancer, we wanted to do something to honour their memories. So we turned our annual outing into a fundraiser, that's when Johnson Glass & Mirror Canoe River Run for Cancer was born in 2004.

For the first two years, the Canoe River Run for Cancer collected pledges and donated to the Canadian Cancer Society totaling $2764.00. For the past 13 years, family and friends have collected pledges and donated to The Oshawa Hospital Foundation on behalf of the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre (MDRCC). This May 12th was our 15th annual River run for cancer and we raised $3142.00, for the past 15 years we are happy to say we have raised in Total $43,902.00. We would like to thank our friends & family for coming out, and for all your hard work and support over the years. We would also like to thank the Udora-Leaskdale Lions Club for loaning us 8 canoes for our event and thank Ampot Portable Toilets for giving us a discount on a rental for the past 15 years.
